KRVCF grants three organizations

The Kern River Valley Community Fund (KRVCF) recently announced through Director of Community Impact at Kern Community Foundation, Fatima Tulfo, those organizations receiving from the annual competitive grant program.

Kern Community Foundation previously invited local organizations to apply for the grant and then Kern Community Foundation selected to award three local organizations to be recipients of a total of $9,500 in grants.

The Community Action Partnership of Kern (CAPK) received $3,000 to continue the vision of enhancing food security in the Kern Valley. The project CAPK will use the money for is expanding storage by purchasing a commercial freezer or refrigerator.

The Kern River Conservancy received $3,000 for their vision to “Keep Kern Clean.” The organization plans to continue cleaning and restoring the Kern River Corridor, addressing pollution caused by homeless encampments and illegal dumping through community engagement and finding sustainable solutions.

Strength of Shadow Dog Rescue, Inc received $3500 for its continued vision of fixing pets. The project funds half of spay and neuter clinics to pets of the Kern Valley. SOS will also vaccinate pets at the time of their surgeries.

The Kern River Valley Community Fund is a regional initiative of Kern Community Foundation, members and residents of the Kern River Valley community established to keep local capital local benefiting the community.
