Kern Valley runs as individuals at HDL Finals

Aspen Hacker is all alone as she crosses the finish line in first place at the HDL Finals.

The HDL finals were a chance for the Kern Valley runners to see where they stack up in the upcoming CIF Meets.
Teams were running as individuals for both qualification and placement in the CIF. In the girls’ race, Aspen Hacker dominated from start to finish as she took the tape in a time of 21.04 to capture first place. A. Hacker has dominated the HDL this season and it continued in this race. Kyla Hacker came across the line in fourth place in a time of 24.14. Faith Kirby was the next Lady Broncs runner to place as she came in seventh. Her time was a respectable 26.32. Tabitha Cazares was right behind in eighth with a time of 26.49. Kassandra Guarneros finished off the squad of Lady Broncs runners with a 16th place. She crossed the timing line in 30.08. Greta Boettcher did not run in this race as she was experiencing the Nation’s Capital with her International Exchange Organization.
On the Broncs side of the race, the top finisher for Kern Valley was Logan Sampson. He crossed the line in a time of 21.48 to take the eighth place. Ethan Mauer was the next Broncs runner to come in. He was 12th in a time of 23.20. Angel Oliveras was the 20th place finisher in a time of 25.31, while Dario Jones was 24th with a time of 26.30. Rounding out the times for Kern Valley runner was Matthew Leonez who crossed the line in 28th with a time of 26.747 which was .001 in front of the 29th place runner.
Up next for the Kern Valley runners will be the CIF Team qualification race on Thursday to see who will run in the State cross country Meet on Nov. 30. The top two teams will qualify for the state meet. Along with that the top 20 individual runners, excluding the top two teams runners who automatically qualify, is at stake.
