With a Whiskey Flat Days theme like Rhinestones and Wranglers, a board meeting can cover a lot of ground. At the very least the length of the last meeting of the Kernville Chamber of Commerce, for Whiskey Flat Days events, was a good indication of the breadth of what locals can expect in February.
Folks can expect events to include the traditional Whiskey Flat Days Kickoff Dinner. And at the Whiskey Flat Days festivities music from two live bands, a disc jockey, the Whiskey Flat Days mayoral race results announcements, a melodrama, some bang ‘em up shootouts, horseback riders, contests, vendors, a rodeo, and a carnival area.
The Chamber has decided on the artwork for Whiskey Flat Days, and is not in a hurry to release information on the topic. Members of the board seemed very hush hush about the visual, and so is office staff, according to Tara Overall who showed the board the framed artwork. Chamber president Orion Sanders told the Kern Valley Sun that the artwork was not supposed to be photographed yet.
Vice president of the board, Gary Ananian previously told the press that the board determined not to hold a Whiskey Flat Days art contest this year for the poster. The Kern Valley Sun plans to feature the chosen artist for this year’s art in a special interview soon.
The Whiskey Flat Days did not yet have solidified candidates lined up to run for mayor.
The Whiskey Flat Days needs a reenactment encampment sponsor, which is about $1500.
It is possible another party would be coordinating the encampment reenactment, under Mike Woodward’s oversight.
