The Kernville Chamber of Commerce announced at its monthly meeting, Monday September 23, that the chamber is holding this year’s Fall Festival October 26-October 27 at Circle Park in Kernville.
Tara Overall, administrative staff for the chamber announced at the meeting that a church is once again holding the pumpkin patch at the Fall Festival. “We’re currently looking for sponsors from the community if anyone or their business is interested. Overall also said that the chamber was still planning all the contests for the Fall Festival. “We’re also looking for more vendors. We still have a few spaces left. Amidst this big annual affair, Overall said that Saturday the chamber would be featuring a Dog Costume Contest and that SOS Dog Rescue would once again be holding its Little Dog Races. The chamber would also be holding its traditional Trick or Treat Parade.
Sunday the chamber would hold a Sack Race, an Egg Toss and an old fashioned Pie Eating Contest, for which Cheryl’s Diner will be providing yummy pies.
Chamber board member Cheryl Borthick, who is owner of Cheryl’s Diner, said she made two-dozen pies last year for the contest. President of the chamber Orion Sanders specifically requested, during the meeting, that the pies should once again have whipped cream.
The chamber board members noted that they would need donations of about 50 bales of hay, which generous donors usually provide.
As part of the Fall Festival the chamber and Sarge’s Wreaths 4 Vets will be holding its Boo-tacular Fun Run, which OnPoint Gym is presenting October 27 at McNally Arena.
