The thirteenth annual Kern River Rock N Blues Fest, a Kern County Rock n Blues Reunion, will be rocking Kernville, September 26 through September 29 with many bands eager to entertain this year, at Frandy Campground, and all around town.
Tickets are still available for purchase and reservations have been going fast.
Organizer for the event, Orion Sanders, who is owner of Notorious Entertainment, which produces the event, told the Kern Valley Sun about the lineup of this major concert series. “We have 13 bands. They’re all classic rock and blues. That’s why it’s called the classic Rock N Blues Fest,” Sanders said.
Musicians playing that weekend are Pedro Cordeiro, Shawn Jones, Blue Mountain Tribe, Matt Lomeo, Kelly’s Lot, Teresa Russell, Chris Thayer and the TCB, Fuzzy Rankin, Father Daddy, Paddy Marsh, Left Coast Groovies, Dirty Pool Blues Band, and Itchy Brother.

Sanders told the Kern Valley Sun about the origins of the event. “We originally started this to bring entertainment to the valley that before wasn’t really done. So we wanted to showcase bands from outside of the area, and bring another level of entertainment to the Kern River Valley.”
The event is for the cause of honoring the memory of veterans. The proceeds from gate sales go to Sarge’s Wreaths 4 Vets, which is affiliated with Wreaths Across America. According to Sanders, who is founder of Sarge’s Wreaths 4 Vets, Mountain Dog Millworks plans to hold a raffle for Sarge’s Wreaths 4 Vets. And Tito’s Homemade Vodka will also be matching Sarge’s donations anywhere up to $2000. Both entities are ensuring that Sarge’s supports each veteran at the Kern River Valley Cemetery.
“We have several different parties and contests that go on,” said Sanders. “Our kick off party is Thursday night at the Kernville Saloon. The VIP party is Friday afternoon at Frandy. Saturday morning we will have the Titos Homemade Vodka Bloody Mary Showdown, a competition for cash and prizes. And then we also have the Sarge’s Cornhole Tournament at Frandy on Sunday afternoon. Sunday we have what we call the All Star Review.”
Notorious Entertainment booked the bands and sponsors for this monumental event back in January and began advertising this event in April. Sanders expects approximately 1500 music fans to attend. “We’ll have food vendors, merchandise vendors, and we have two stages,” he said.
Kernville Saloon sponsors the Kernville Saloon Kick Off Party, which begins all the fun Thursday, Sanders explained.
The VIP Party, back stage on Friday, is the Hot Sauce Shop VIP Party sponsored by Sanders’ very own Hot Sauce Shop.
The Grocery Outlet’s All Star Review, an Open Jam Session, Sunday, is an event for which any musician can sign up to jam with others. It’s primarily musicians from the valley and musicians that played on the stage who will rotate through in a jam session at the gazebo in Circle Park. According to Sanders the musicians are welcome to sign up, at the event, on the day of the All Star Review Open Jam Session.
