The Kern Valley Youth football program opened its season against Indian Wells Valley (IWV). The freshmen team picked up the lone victory on the day.
The Broncs freshmen squad pulled out the 27-20 victory as Kash Lange took four hand offs to the house. The four-touchdown day by Lange and the three PAT conversions were enough to capture the win. Nolan Baker and Noah Martin contributed on the day in the rushing department with multiple long runs to keep the Broncs offense on the field. On the defensive side of the ball, Wyatt Huckaby and Bentley Woolley shared the team lead in tackles with four each. Xavier Griffin finished with three tackles in the win over IWV.
Sophomores:
IWV 30 – Kern Valley 0
Broncs player highlights included Loki Priest collected three quarterback sack in the game. Brady Davis playing fullback carried the ball multiple times with positive rushing yards. Callum Watts ran the offense as the QB and was credited with multiple tackles.
JV Broncs:
IWV 12 – Kern Valley 6
The Broncs and IWV played a defensive game in this one. The low scoring affair saw IWV eke out the win over the JV Broncs. Kern Valley’s lone score came on a 40-yard scamper from Zander Anzaldo. Talon Montes completed multiple passes in the contest for the Broncs offense. On defense, Luke Carver picked off an IWV pass for the interception.
Varsity:
IWV 34 – Kern Valley 0
In the varsity game highlights, Kern Valley’s offense was led by Dominic DiPrima picked up a pair of first downs on two third-and-long plays. Roman Avila hauled in two catches to move the Broncs offense down the field and convert first downs. Kern Valley’s Shane Price pounced on two loose balls for fumble recoveries on defense. Michael Gutierrez, Anthony Sanchez, and Connor Merritt shared the team lead in tackling the opposing ball carrier.
