The newest squad for Kern Valley High School began their season by winning their first-ever match.
The Lady Broncs volleyball team gave the boot to Foothill as they took the match in two sets. Kern Valley won each set decisively and dominated play as they become part of history.
This team of ladies are the first ever frosh/soph team at Kern Valley and became a team in just a short time. Limited practice and a grouping of athletes gathered together for the first time, they quickly bonded and drove that to a successful opening campaign. This team has only practiced three times as Lady Broncs and they proved that the volleyball program is headed in the right direction.
This team has nine athlete that make up the frosh/soph Lady Broncs. They have four sophomores and five freshmen players. The sophomores on the squad are, Alexander Evelett, Cambria Draag, Harley Jolly, and Hazel Kiosef. Rounding out the team are freshmen, Bailey Buskirk, Annmarie Chambers, Dannica Curtis, Gabriela Eastes and Zoe Perfect.
Head coach Shelby Chumley said, “While only have practiced 3 times as a team before their game, the girls had great teamwork and played their hearts out. I am very impressed with this team and I cannot wait to see how they grow this season.”
This Lady Broncs team hosted Shafter in their second match of the season on Tuesday. They travel to McFarland on August 27 for their third match of the year.
