Just like a race car has to get fined tuned before a race, so does Jayda Bushling as she attempts to make the USA’s Junior Olympics squad.
Bushling competed with her A3 Bakersfield teammates in the State Games of America Track and Field this past weekend. She used this to get dialed in on her attempt of qualifying for the USA team. It was held at Monte Vista High School in San Diego. She ran the 100m race and came in second. She had a time of 12.51, just .16 off the winner of the race. Her prelim time was 13.07, but was good enough to send her to the finals.
She would also run the 200m race where she would finish in fifth place. No time was made available. Bushling chose to showcase only these two events in preparation for the Junior Olympics. She will compete in the 400m race to try and make her way onto the USA Junior Olympic team.
With this tune up complete, Bushling now can focus on her initial goal of making the USA Junior Olympic team. She will travel to Texas this weekend and attempt to complete her goal. Bushling knows that there are quite a few people following her achievements. Her family and friends, along with the whole Kern River Valley wish her nothing but success in this endeavor.
