KCSO Conducting Search and Rescue in the Kern River

Kern County Sheriff’s Office – Public Information Officer

On 07/04/2024, at approximately 1253 hours, deputies assigned to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Kern Valley Substation responded to the area of Keysville Road/Pearl Harbor Drive in Lake Isabella, for a search and rescue event.

Responding deputies learned that a female subject in her 30’s and a male subject in his 30’s entered the river in distress. The Kern County Sheriff’s Office Search & Rescue Team is currently on scene and this is an active investigation.  

Sandy Flat Rescue Update:
At about 4 P.M. the missing female from today’s search was located deceased near Keysville Beach. She was recovered from the river by members of the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Unit. At this time the missing male is still outstanding. The search was called off at about 6 P.M. due to inclement weather, and will resume in the morning.
