Ireland Comstock, Field Rep for Congressman Vince Fong

The Kern Valley Exchange Club announced its two upcoming Book of Golden Deeds award recipients and inducted field representative of congressman Vince Fong, Ireland Comstock into the club, Thursday June 13, at Paradise Cove Lodge.
President of the club John Blythe announced that the organization chose two community members to honor with the Book of Golden Deeds Award, rather than one person this year. Recipients the club chose for the award were Pam Smith and Reid Hopkins. These and other awards would be presented during the installation dinner for the club’s officers, at Paradise Cove Lodge, Monday June 24, at 5:30pm. Comstock who was previously working for former assemblyman Vince Fong during his administration will continue working for him during his congressional administration. Her job is to bring concerns from the public to Fong’s D.C. team. She represents Fong for ribbon cuttings and presenting honorary certificates as well.
The Kern River Valley Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year, Gary Zuber, encouraged Comstock to join the Kern Valley Exchange Club. He said, “She’s an awesome person. She’s going to do amazing things in this club.”
The club, which focuses on child abuse prevention, also raises money for student scholarships, and helping other causes in the community.
Comstock was born and raised in Bakersfield. She said, “I’ve come up here all my life doing different things and with our fly fishing group and whatnot. I like to be involved in the community.”
She worked for Fong since last August. She also worked on Kevin McCarthy’s campaign and worked for three years, as a staffer, and one year as an intern when she was in high school.
The club was planning its popular Rubber Duck fundraiser, which the club would be holding at the end of August, this year, tentatively Saturday, August 24. The club plans to sell approximately 1,000 tickets, around the end of June.
