Kern Valley’s junior varsity softball team circled the bases plenty of times to record the 29-11 victory.
Going on the road to Rosamond, the Lady Broncs as a team collected 11 hits. Two of the hits were doubles. They would see nine players score runs for the squad. Six players were able to record an RBI for Kern Valley. According to the coach, the majority of the runs scored were off of walks.
Reba Demeglio was the top hitter as she delivered three singles. She was credited with one RBI and scored three times. Avery Valdez had a pair of singles and one RBI. She was allowed to score four times. Isabelle Mosqueda banged out two singles and was credited with four RBIs. She also was a multi-run scorer with three. Ayla Lyons had a double and two RBIs. She also scored three runs. Aneicia Perry smacked a double and drove in a run. She touched the home dish four times. Charlotte Hafenfeld delivered a single and one RBI, while scoring four times. Rounding out the hit parade, Karsyn Liske had a single and scored a pair of runs. Summer Santos and Evie Burrows each scored three runs for the Lady Broncs.
In the circle, for Kern Valley was Valdez. She struck out four Rosamond batters that she faced. According to the Lady Broncs head coach, Amber LaFarga, “The win leaves us at second place in the HDL.”
In another game that was played on April 19 against Bishop, the Lady Broncs lost in a close game 15-14. The one-run loss came despite Kern Valley collecting 13 hits. They were one hit short of the cycle as they recorded no doubles, but had a home run and a triple. Burrows crushed the round-tripper and had one other hit. She would knock in two runs. Shelby Griffen delivered three singles and recorded two RBIs, while Lyons hit the triple and a single. She was credited with one RBI. Valdez had two singles and two RBIs, while Dimeglio and Hafenfeld each had one hit and one RBI. Allison Watkins and Liske had one hit apiece to round out the Lady Broncs offense.
Griffen as a pitcher in the circle, was able to set down seven batters on strikes.
These games were part of a low number of games that Kern Valley played this year due to other schools not having a jayvee squad.
