Last Friday at Woodrow Wallace Middle School, the 7th annual Turkey Trot took place! The Turkey Trot is a 10k cross country run to raise money for grade level field trips. We had enthusiastic runners out on the track, with many who have won medals in previous years. I asked some of the top runners how they felt about their successes. The first runner to enter the balloon arches was Jack Montgomery, our overall first place runner of about 200 kids. Jack said, “It feels Gucci slippers!” Aspen Hacker, our overall 2nd place and first place 6th grade girl commented, “It feels awesome!” Led by Leadership teacher Stacey Sanders, and the staff of WMS, another great day of exercise, friendship, and health was celebrated. The school wishes to thank all of our community sponsors, volunteers, and especially the USFS, CHP, and Kern County Fire for keeping our students safe along the course.
