Kern Valley JV Girls saddle Lady Broncos with a loss

The Lady Broncs JV basketball squad was at home when Bishop came to town. They would send the visiting team home with a defeat.
Kern Valley Took control at the beginning and never looked back as they dominated the HDL game with the Lady Broncos. The final score was 40-26, but the outcome was never in doubt. The Lady Broncs defense set the tone as they allowed their opponent just seven first quarter points. The offense for Kern Valley was able to drop in 13 points to take the early 13-7 lead after the opening quarter.
It was more of the same as the second quarter got underway. The Lady Broncs defense continued to pressure the opposing players and limit the scoring coming from Bishop. They allowed the Lady Broncos just six points to end the first half. Kern Valley kept putting the ball through the hoop and increased their halftime cushion to 27-13.
As the second half started, the offenses for both teams struggled to find the bottom of the basket. Both teams were held under 10 points as the quarter came to an end. The Lady Broncs did out score Bishop 9-7 to make the lead going into the final quarter 16 points. The scoreboard read 36-20 as they teams went into the fourth. Another low scoring quarter from both teams, but it was the Kern Valley squad that firmly had the outcome in their hands. Bishop scored six points and the Lady Broncs added four to their total. To make it a 40-26 final.
Leading the way for the Lady Broncs was Taylor Kristy with a team-high 17 points. She would hit once from three-point land. Bobbie Pruitt followed with six points. Two Lady Broncs added five points apiece. Millie Bustamonte had five which included draining a three-pointer. Zoe Perfect also score five points, while Kaylee Embree scored four points. Sam Ruiz had two points, while Hazel Kiosef made a lone free throw for her one point to cap the Lady Broncs scoring. Six players were able to get a hand in dishing out at least one assist in the game. The team was led in assists by Ruiz with six. Kiosef handed out a pair of assists, while Brooke Gibson, Kristy, Bustamonte, and Alissa Webster each had one assist for Kern Valley.
On the boards, Kristy topped the rebounding chart with five. Embree and Kiosef followed as they each had four rebounds. Gibson, Perfect, Bustamonte, and Pruitt would pull down a pair of rebounds, while Webster ended the board work with one rebound. Embree and Kiosef were each credited with smacking away five Bishop shot attempts to lead the defensive play. Perfect swatted away four shots, while Kristy recorded one block. Gibson was the leading thief doe Kern Valley as she was credited with four steals. Kristy, Embree, and Ruiz each had three steals, while Kiosef and Perfect had two steals apiece. Bustamonte and Pruitt each had one steal to wrap up the defense fro the Lady Broncs.
