The Kern Valley soccer teams played a pair of league matches this week. Unfortunately, Both the girls’ and boys’ squads would fall in both contests. The Lady Broncs dropped the decision to Bishop 5-1 and lost a hard-fought battle with Mammoth 1-0. The boys would fall 15-1 to Bishop and they lost to Mammoth 9-0.
In the girls’ matchup with Bishop, their opponent grabbed the early lead as they scored three times in the first half. They added a pair of goals in the second half of the match. Kern Valley got its lone goal in the second half. Alexandra Armes would find the back of the net for the Lady Broncs goal. Turning to the Mammoth match, the Lady Huskies scored one goal in the first half and made it stand up the rest of the way. Neither team could score in the second half so the final was 1-0.
The Broncs were dominated by Bishop as they were limited to one goal. On the other side, Bishop squad poured in 15 goals. They scored seven in the first half and then eight in the second. Kern Valley scored its goal in the first half. It was only the second goal they have scored all season. In the Mammoth match it was a total blow out as score nine times.
The Kern Valley teams took on Mojave on Tuesday and they will face off with Desert on Thursday. Both of these matches will be on Kern Valley’s home pitch.
